Actions 6 and 7 start

Action 6 (hydraulic modelling of the impacts of climate evolutions on the Meuse river and main tributaries) and Action 7 (risk analysis, damage calculation related to futur floods and low-flows and cost of inaction) have started jointly in a WP1 meeting held in Maastricht (NL) on June 24th 2010.

The University of Liege, responsible for action 6, has presented the methodology and work schedule. The objective is to modell the river completely from Neufchateau to Keysers Veer, based on the hydrological scenarios calculated in action 3.

The Aachen Technical Institute has presented the damage calculation methodologies used in the different countries of the Meuse basin. Partners need to proceed with their investigations before a methodology is established.

Examples of software for the evaluation of damages related to droughts and low flows have also been presented.

The Universities of Amsterdam and Gent participated in the meeting to bring in their expertise.

The decisional report as well as presentations can be downloaded hereunder.
