Hydrologists form RIZA estimated the expected increase of the 1250 year return period discharge: 20% by the year 2050, from 3800 m3/s to 4600 m3/s. The corresponding water level rise, for the current river channel geometry, would be 75 cm on average. For the 250 year discharge the same relative increase of 20% was assumed, increasing discharge from 3275 to 3950 m3/s.
